Tonight the seven artists that will perform in the final of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2025 on the 8th of February have been announced.
UMK 2025 artists and songs
The seven artists are:
- Neea River – Nightmares
- Nelli Matula – Hitaammin hautaan
- Costee – Sekaisin
- Viivi – Aina
- One Morning Left – Puppy
- Goldielocks – Made of
- Erika Vikman – Ich komme
Each weekday from today until Friday January 17, Yle will release a new music video from one of the competing UMK25 artists at 22:00 CET. Below we will update this article with the videos as they are released. The first one will be released in a few hours.
1: Neea River – Nightmares
Neea is a rising singer-songwriter who has released singles like ‘All The Way’ and ‘Crocodile Tears’. She enters UMK with ‘Nightmares’, a song written by herself and Ilkka Wirtanen and Petri Alanko.
2. Nelli Matula – Hitaammin hautaan
A singer since 2016, Nelli has two albums under her belt, all in Finnish. Her song ‘Hitaamin Hautaan’ is a lovely midtempo written by herself, Kaisa Korhonen and Antti Riihimäki.
3. Costee – Sekaisin
Originally of the pop duo Sima, Jussi Tianen, better known as Costee started a solo career in 2019. He won Best Newcomer and Audience Favourite at the Emma Gala in 2020 and has released 3 albums so far. He also was a writer on songs in the video game Alan Wake 2. ‘Sekaisin’ was written by himself, Teemu Javanainen and Tomi Tamminen.
4. Viivi – Aina
25 years old, Viivi has had several accolades throughout her career, also winning Best Newcomer like Costee before her, in 2022. She sung on a Finnish #1 hit with Robin Packalen in that year also, ‘Ihana kipu’. ‘Aina’ is written by her and a team of 4 other writers: Antti Riihimäki, Emma Johansson, Joonas Keronen, Lauri Halavaara
5. One Morning Left – Puppy
One Morning Left is a metalcore band active since 2008. They have toured in Finland, neighbouring countries and also Japan. ‘Puppy’ is described as a hyperactive and cheerful track that will leave no one indifferent and they’re right. It’s written by 3 of the band members, including lead singer Mika Lahti, as well as Johannes Naukkarinen and Saku Ahola.
6. Goldilocks – Made Of
Goldielocks, real name Ella Mäntynen, released her first singles in 2023, starting with ‘Electrifying’. ‘Made Of’ is a catchy pop track on self-reflection and… what you are made of, and is written by Ella Bine, Lauri Mäntynen and Topi Kilpinen.
7. Erika Vikman – Ich Komme
Erika Vikman is a well-known Finnish popstar, who first came to attention winning Tangomarkkinat, a music festival for Tango in Finland. She transitioned into pop with her 2020 hit ‘Cicciolina’, and has been a popular presence in Finland since. ‘Ich Komme’ is a disco-rave track written by ROOS+BERG.
