At a press event, the Eurovision 2025 team revealed that executive producers Reto Peritz and Moritz Stadler are in talks with Céline Dion’s team in hopes that the singer will perform at Eurovision in Basel this May.
The last time Switzerland hosted Eurovision was in 1989, following Céline Dion’s win with her song “Ne partez pas sans moi” the year prior. For this reason, the production team has declared its mission to bring the Canadian singer back to the Eurovision stage in 2025. Executive producers Reto Peritz and Moritz Stadler are in talks with Céline Dion’s team, but no decision has been made yet. As the singer suffers from stiff-person syndrome, it is difficult to plan performances far ahead. Céline Dion first public performance after her diagnosis in 2022 was at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, in the summer of 2024. Her most recent public performance was in November of last year. The Eurovision producers state that “we won’t know until a few weeks before the ESC whether she feels fit enough”.
The production team has declined to reveal any more information about potential interval acts and special guests at the press event in Basel this week.
