NRK calls for a review of the voting in Eurovision 2025

Despite the joyous scenes for Austria’s third victory in the Eurovision Song Contest, with JJ’s, ‘Wasted Love’, numerous broadcasters raised concerns with the televoting results. Many, including AVROTROS/NPO, RTVE, RTVSLO, RÚV, VRT and Yle have raised formal complaints with the EBU following the televote victory and second place for Israel. Now, Norwegian broadcaster NRK has joined the growing list of delegations to formally issue a statement following Eurovision 2025.

In a recent interview, Charlo Halvorse the Entertainment Editor of NRK believes that trust in Eurovision voting is being called into question.

“It is serious if there is doubt that the result of the vote reflects the public’s opinion. We cannot have it that way. We therefore support a thorough review of the voting system to ensure that trust in the competition is maintained.”

NRK has contacted the EBU to request a review of Eurovision televoting and to be involved in the follow up procedures and discussions as parts of its EBU membership status.

“The purpose of the review must be to strive for as fair a competition as possible, in line with Eurovision’s intentions and guidelines.”
