The Slovenian band, who represented their country at Eurovision in Liverpool 2023, is celebrating its ninth anniversary this month. In a Youtube video, they have announced that they will go big for the 10th anniversary, with their own festival in Ljubljana. Early bird tickets will be out this month.
The announcement – “Everybody’s invited to the carnival”
The announcement had been teased previously, and was made through a scripted Youtube video looking like a short movie. The boys talk to each other as they celebrate their ninth anniversary alone in the empty Kardeljeva Ploščad in Ljubljana, and brainstorm on their plans for the tenth anniversary. After ideas of a fake break-up or a stadium concert, Bojan suggests the idea of a “Joker Out carnival”, promising the band’s “biggest concert so far”.
The idea is agreed upon as the editing puts their song “Novi Val” in the background, a song from which the lyrics “Vabljeni vsi na karneval” (“Everybody’s invited to the carnival“, adapted as “Everybody joins our carnival” in the English version “New Wave”).
A carnival on June 20, 2026 – tickets out a year in advance
The concert-carnival will take place on June 20 next year, in 2026, on Kardeljeva Ploščad in Ljubljana. Kardeljeva Ploščad is a large empty space next to a university campus, that is sometimes used for festivals and open-air concerts.
Early bird tickets will be sold starting on June 20 this year, on the Eventim platform.
Joker Out represented Slovenia at Eurovision 2023. Despite placing 21st in the Grand Final, they gained a lot of popularity and followers within the Eurovision fan community and followed up their Eurovision experience with a successful European tour. Their entry “Carpe Diem” became the most-streamed song in Slovenian in history a few weeks after Eurovision.
Following this, they started to release tracks in English, and released a third album in late 2024, “Souvenir Pop”, including “Carpe Diem” along other tracks in both languages.
