Following the success of the Netflix hit, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga is in early development for the Broadway stage in a musical adaptation of the film.
The Story of Fire Saga to become a Broadway musical
The show tunes and glamour of Broadway is about to collide with the sequins and douze points of the Eurovision Song Contest! The star and co-writer of Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga is turning the Netflix film into a Broadway musical. Will Ferrell is teaming up with fellow co-writer, Harper Steele and Broadway legend Anthony King to produce the new show. As well as this, Alex Timber will be the director and acclaimed musician Savan Kotecha will be in charge of the songs for the Broadway musical.

During the global pandemic and lockdowns of 2020 that saw Eurovision cancelled, The Story of Fire Saga and its comedic take on everyone’s beloved song contest, gave the world some light relief. Through the success of the film, ‘Husavik’ received an Oscar nomination for ‘Best Original Song’. Of course, the immortal line from the film – “Play Jaja Ding Dong!” has become entrenched in Eurovision lore. With numerous viral clips and memes spawned in the years following the Netflix broadcast.
