Željko Joksimović will be the composer of the Montenegrin entry in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. National broadcaster of Montenegro RTCG announced this today.
Montenegro already internally selected Knez to represent the country in May. The song is expected to be released in March and a video clip will be shown on the national broadcaster during a special programme dedicated to the Montenegrin participation in Vienna.
Željko Joksimović is not new in the Eurovision Song Contest. This year, it will be his fifth participation as a singer and a writer. He is still searching for a victory after coming close in his first appearance as a performer in 2004. That year Joksimović ended up as a runner up when singing Lane Moje for Serbia & Montenegro.
In 2006 he wrote Lejla for Bosnia & Herzegovina and the song ended up in third place. Two years later i.e. in 2008 he hosted the contest in Belgrade but was also the composer of the song Oro, performed by Jelena Tomašević. In 2012 he returned to the Eurovision Song Contest as a performer and achieved a respectable third place.
The song Joksimović is writing will represent Montenegro in the second semi-final on 21st May. Last year Montenegro managed to qualify for the first time since it’s debut in 2007.
