Teresa Radamanto, Simone de Oliveira and José Freitas qualified to Saturday’s final of Festival da Canção after the second semi-final show in Lisbon. In total, another six acts competed in tonight’s semi-final and two of them advanced to the final by tele-voting, while the third qualifier was selected by the jury.
The show broadcasted on RTP1 was hosted by Sílvia Alberto and José Carlos Malato. Portuguese 1996 Eurovision hopeful, Lúcia Moniz was the special guest of the night and she sang O meu coração não tem cor, the song that brought Portugal’s best ever result.
The final will take place on Saturday. In the final, the six competing finalists will be narrowed down to three using the same formula as in the semi-finals. The winner, however, will be decided solely by tele-voting.
The results from tonight’s show
- José Freitas – Mal menor (ninguém me guia à razão) (jury choice)
- Teresa Radamanto – Um fado em Viena (tele-voting choice)
- Simone de Oliveira – À espera das canções (tele-voting choice)
The above mentioned finalists will join Leonor Andrade, Yola Dinis and Gonçalo Tavares, who made the cut last Tuesday. The winner of Saturday’s final will represent Portugal in Vienna.
