Stockholm 2016

Submissions open for national final

This morning, the submission period for the Belarusian national final officially opened. All interested singers and songwriters have from today until Saturday 21 November to submit their potential songs to the offices of the national broadcaster, BTRC.
After a jury have listened to the submissions, artists will be invited to audition live so that the field will be narrowed down to 15 contenders. The finalists will be announced no later than Wednesday 2 December. No firm date has been set for the national final yet, but in the last few years it has taken place in December or early January.
Last month, Gennady Davydko, chairman of BTRC expressed an interest in sending a song in the Belarusian language to compete in Stockholm in May, however submissions in all languages will be accepted, and the final say will go to the public when the national final takes place.
After two consecutive qualifications in 2013 and 2014, Belarus failed to make the final in Eurovision 2015 with Uzari and Maimuna and ‘Time’ so they will be hoping this selection process yields a successful entry.
