Slovakia will not take part in Eurovision 2016

Three days ago, we reported on a rumour that had surfaced in the Eurovision world because of an alleged e-mail coming from RTVS. Slovakia were said to have asked for an extended deadline to complete funding for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. We then said we had reached out to the EBU to find out the truth in this rumour. Today, EBU have replied: Slovakia will not compete in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest 2016.
In a tweet, EBU said the following about Slovakia:
Slovakia
So that settles it: There will be 43 entries in Stockholm. 2016 will become the third year with that record amount of participants, following 2008 and 2011, when there were also 43 participants. Slovakia last participated in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest with Max Jason Mai’s Don’t Close Your Eyes, finishing last in the semifinal.
