Ilinca finds a creative way to pay tribute to her favourite Eurovision 2018 songs

Special guest star: her cat!

Yodel-Ay-Ee-Oooo! No, those are not lyrics from Netta’s upcoming single, but actually the closest one can get to typing out the sound of yodeling. And the mention of yodeling can mean only one thing, Ilinca is back at it again! This time with a fun new video, where she (along with her cat) covers some of her favourite Eurovision 2018 entries.

Have you ever wished to hear the chicken noises in “Toy” be replaced with some yodeling? Well here is your lucky day as Ilinca has made that dream come true! This isn’t just another cover of “Toy” though, she also takes a stab at plenty of other entries from this year’s contest like “Fuego”, “Lie to me”, “La forza”, “You let me walk alone”, “When we’re old”, “Tu Cancion” and “Dance you off”.

All of the above are done with a sense of fun we’ve come to expect from Ilinca as she recreates the performances at home using nothing more than a white wall and plenty of imagination. A DIY project well worth anyone’s time, but it wasn’t an easy task making it all happen as the description of the video tells us:

So…. THIS WAS THE MOST DIFFICULT VIDEO I HAVE EVER RECORDED/EDITED IN MY LIFE But I had so much fun doing it that it doesn’t even matter anymore. I have been working on this for the past month so I really hope you enjoy it! I chose to sing bits of all of my favourite songs from this year’s Eurovision and try to also imitate (if possible) their staging.

You can check out all her hard work down below:

Wasn’t Ilinca on stage herself not too long ago?

Think back to Eurovision 2017. Feels like it happened just last year, doesn’t it? Well that’s because it did. One of the entries there was of course Romania’s “Yodel It” as performed by Ilinca herself and Alex Florea. Whether you loved the entry or still wake up in the middle of the night covered in cold sweat over the thought of hearing more yodeling, you have to admit that Ilinca is monumentally talented and gave it her all on stage to unite genres that usually don’t go together, so let’s remind ourselves of her amazing vocal efforts together:

Did you enjoy the video? Did you have the same favourites as she did? Any other entry from 2018 you’d like to see Ilinca cover? Ever tried yodeling yourself? Don’t, think of your neighbours!
