Melting the heatwave with some Caramela! Eurovision 2018 runner-up Eleni Foureira releases the music video for the Salsa tinged banger. The song will also feature on the soundtrack of upcoming film Aigaio SOS.
Carry On Caramela
Bringing the playful vibes of the classic Carry On franchise, Caramela sees Eleni entertain the troops on the shores of Anavyssos. Setting temperatures soaring from the start with the grand entrance via military escort, Eleni shows her comedic skills and dazzling charisma, whilst being wooed by a shirtless hunk. A dream most people have had once right?
The video serves as promotion for the upcoming comedy film Aigaio SOS, which will also feature the song on the original soundtrack. In the film, an earthquake sees Greek and Turkish troops rush to claim a new island it’s created. So of course sun, sea, sand and over the top mayhem ensues! It will be released in cinemas 15th November 2018.
The team behind the song
Originally released by Moshe Peretz last year, Caramela perfectly blends the Israeli beats with some Iberian summer flavour. This re-release reunites Eleni with composer and Eurovision hit maker Doron Medalie. They may have been rivals in Lisbon – Doron won with Netta and Toy, but the two are long time friends. Having worked together on Eleni’s Greek version of Golden Boy and Come Tiki Tam, which ERT sidelined in favour of Utopian Land. Also on the credits is Sofia Papavasiliou, who wrote the Greek lyrics together with Eleni to add an extra twist to this interpretation. Additionally to this for her new international fans, an English version has also been released.
Yeah Yeah Fuego
Surpassing the milestone of 30 million streams on Spotify this week, Fuego is well on the way to becoming one of the all time Eurovision classics. Through achieving Cyprus’ best ever result with second place, Eleni has proven she’s a winner with the fans. Breaking into the Spanish market has seen a successful summer tour across the country and further afield around the continent in London, Stockholm, Tirana, Amsterdam and more.
