National Broadcaster confirms participation
According to INFE Azerbaijan, the Azeri broadcaster Ictimai Televiziya confirmed that the country will participate in the next contest! These news bring the confirmed participants to a total of 20, with several countries yet to confirm their participation next year.
Selection method still unknown
The national broadcaster of Azerbaijan only confirmed its participation in the next contest. However, they said nothing regarding the selection method of their entry. One should bear in mind that in recent years Azerbaijan has used internal selection for its entries.
Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest
Azerbaijan first participated in Eurovision 2008, reaching 8th place. It has participated 11 times in the contest, and even won the 2011 contest, with “Running Scared” sung by Ell and Nikki. Its 100% qualification record broke in 2018, when Aisel failed to qualify to the Final. She finished 11th in the first Semi-Final, with 94 points.
