RTL confirms ‘Luxembourg Song Contest’

After 31 years, Luxembourg is finally returning to Eurovision. Now, the details of their national selection have been revealed.

Luxembourg is back.

Next year, Luxembourg is returning to Eurovision after withdrawing from the contest in 1993. The small country has decided to choose their next Eurovision hopeful through a national final that will be titled “Luxembourg Song Contest”, according to Luxembourgese broadcaster RTL.

The details

“Luxembourg Song Contest” will be held on January 24th at the Rockhal in Esch-sur-Alzette and will be broadcast through RTL. There will be commentary available in both French and English.

Earlier, it was revealed that 459 submissions to participate in the national final was received by the RTL. Some were then invited to audition over the past months in front of an international jury including the likes of César Sampson. An artist announcement for the final on January 27th is expected to be revealed very soon.

Luxembourg in Eurovision

Luxembourg is one of the countries who’s been in Eurovision since its inception in 1956, participating 37 times before withdrawing in 1993. They managed to win the contest a whopping five times, most recently in 1983 with “Si la vie est cadeau” performed by Corinne Hermés. You can see her performance below:
