885 000 viewers watched the final of Finland’s national selection Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2020 while over 1.5 million people tuned in for at least three minutes.
Best for Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu
This is the most viewers Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu ever had. In 2012, the Finnish broadcaster dropped its old national selection format and the first edition of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu was held.
Aksel Kankaanranta was selected as Finland’s representative. His song “Looking Back” got the highest points from the international jury while the Finnish public placed him second behind the fan favourite Erika Vikman.
Prior the contest, the music video for Erika Vikman’s entry “Cicciolina” gained over one million views on YouTube and over 1.6 million streams on Spotify, making it one of the biggest hits from Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu.
On Finland’s Spotify chart based on the streams from the day after the final, Sunday, March 8th, Erika Vikman’s song is on the 5th place while Aksel’s song climbed to the 8th place.
