Samira Efendi was chosen internally by the broadcaster İctimai. Prior to this, Samira had tried five times to represent her country in Eurovision Song Contest. Before Eurovision, 28-year-old Samira has competed in many music competitions. In 2019, she represented Azerbaijan at the Voice of Nur-Sultan in Kazakhstan.

Unlike some other contestants, who have decided to drop their surname before the contest, Samira instead has dropped her first name and will compete under the name Efendi.

The song is written by Luuk van Beers, Alan Roy Scott and Sarah Lake. Azerbaijan is competing in the first semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest and will perform on the second half of the show.

I started watching Eurovision back in 2006, when I was only 10 and couldn't stay up to see Lordi winning. I attended my first contest in 2013 in Malmö. I'm studying journalism and I love music — you will probably never see me without my headphones on.
