🇬🇧 First look at the BBC’s ‘Pointless Celebrities’ Eurovision Special

UK viewers treated to a night of Eurovision programming on Saturday

In January, we first reported the news that the BBC had commisoned and filmed a special Eurovision installment of popular quiz show Pointless Celebrities featuring a host of former Eurovision participants.

For those unfamiliar with the show’s format, the quiz sees contestants try to score as few points as possible by plumbing the depths of their general knowledge to come up with the answers no-one else can think of.

The Eurovision stars now confirmed to be taking part in the special include

  • Dana (Ireland 1970)
  • SuRie (United Kingdom 2018)
  • John Lundvik (Sweden 2019)
  • Jade Ewen (United Kingdom 2009)
  • Måns Zelmerlöw (Sweden 2015)
  • Niamh Kavanagh (Ireland 1993 and 2010)
  • Mike Nolan & Jay Aston (United Kingdom 1981)

The Eurovision special of Pointless Celebrities airs this Saturday at 5.40pm on BBC One, kick starting an entire evening of Eurovision coverage across the BBC.

Eurovision: Come Together follows at 6.25pm, offering UK viewers the chance to vote for their favourite moments from the contest’s 60 year history. At 8.00pm, all 41 participating nations unite for the live broadcast of Eurovision: Europe Shine a Light. At 10.00pm on BBC Two, the UK’s semi final commentator, Rylan Clark Neal, narrates a guide to all things Eurovision in The A-Z of Eurovision. This is followed by a Eurovision special of TOTP2 at 11.00pm.

On Monday, the BBC’s Newsbeat team uploaded a 30 minute documentary highlighting the cancellation of the contest, as well as sharing behind the scenes footage of UK representative, James Newman as he prepared to fly the flag in Rotterdam.
