BBC begins search for Eurovision 2027 act

The BBC have confirmed the search is underway for the next act that will represent the United Kingdom on the Eurovision stage in Burgas, Bulgaria next May.

Once again the search for the UK representative this year is in the hands of UK Eurovision Project Director and manager of Sam Ryder, David May. Alongside Andrew Cartmell, Executive Producer, BBC Studios North and Head of Delegation for the UK. The upcoming contest taking place in Burgas, Bulgaria next May will mark the ninth year of Andrew’s tenure as Head of Delegation.

Using all the tools at their disposal within the BBC framework, the team will look towards support from BBC Music, BBC Introducing, BBC Studios Entertainment Production and BBC Entertainment Commissioning.

“We intend to be represented by an outstanding current British act, backed up by the very best songwriting and production talent the UK music industry has to offer. We are looking for an act with tried and tested live performance experience and a song crafted in the UK by the very best home-grown talent. I saw first-hand in 2022 what one performance at Eurovision can do for an artist’s career. The opportunity is still very much there and it’s time the United Kingdom reached the top of the Eurovision scoreboard once again.”

The successful act and their competing entry will be revealed before the March 2027 deadline for broadcasters set by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
