Andorran broadcaster RTVA has revealed that they will not be taking part in the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam. This means Andorra has become the first country to confirm they will not be competing in next year’s contest.
Andorra have took part in the contest six times however they have never made the grand final. Their best result came in 2007, when they finished in 12th place in the semi-final.
“No desire” to return to Eurovision
Speaking to Eurofestivales, the RTVA press department has confirmed that they have ruled out a return to next year’s contest, despite rumours in November that they would be making a return to the contest.
Ràdio i Televisió d’Andorra will not participate in the next Eurovision Song Contest, following the decision made a few years ago by the company.

Andorra at the Eurovision Song Contest
Andorra first took part in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004, when Marta Roure represented the nation with “Jugarem a estimar-nos”. The song failed to qualify for the final. It finished in 18th place with 12 points in the semi-final. In 2004 and 2005, RTVA selected their Eurovision entry via a national final 12 Punts.
Their first interally-selected entry, “Sense tu”, performed by Jenny, finished last in the 2006 semi-final with only 8 points. Despite this poor result, they selected their entry internally again in 2007 and 2008. Their best result came in 2007 when Anonymous finished 12th in the semi-final.
Andorra’s latest participation in the contest was in 2009. Susanne Georgi represented the microstate with “La teva decisio (Get a Life)”. The country did not return for the 2010 contest due to financial issues and have not returned since.
Are you sad that Andorra will not return in 2021? Would you like to see an Andorran entry on the Eurovision stage again in the future?
