This New Music Friday we get to enjoy yet another new song by a Eurovision artist! Stefania, the Superg!rl from Greece, celebrates this day with us in her new single ‘FRIDAY’.
Friday on my mind
As the title suggests, this song is all about celebrating the weekend! In this case, Stefania sings about how she has Friday on her mind when she is with her lover. Just like ‘Superg!rl’, the song is upbeat and fun, perfect for a night out. This comes as no surprise, because the very same songwriter, Dimitris Kontopoulos, is credited for this new single. In the official music video, Stefania appears alone in her room, a restaurant, and a bathroom. Regardless of her social distancing, she is still having fun, especially once she decides to abandon her chores in the beginning of the video. Stefania’s vocals are a great addition to the track. Her voice is low and soothing in the first verse, and builds up towards belting out the final chorus: just the way we love to hear!
Stefania and the Eurovision Song Contest
Before participating at the Eurovision Song Contest, Stefania participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, as a member of Kisses with the song ‘Kisses & Dancin‘ which placed 8th with 174 points.
In 2020, Greece announced that it has selected Stefania to represent them with the song ‘SUPERG!RL’. Despite the cancellation of the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest, Greece has confirmed that Stefania will represent them at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam.
