๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ด Australian Eurovision acts & KEiiNO nominated for NIMAs 2020

The National Indigenous Music Awards, abbreviated to NIMAs, are Australia’s way of celebrating artists from the First Nation. The NIMAs have been running for 16 years already, and are set to take place on August 8th this year! Of course, this is all taking place in a safe, online environment.

Eurovision nominees

Eurovision fans will be sure to recognize names that have been shortlisted to win one of the prestigious awards. The people who do not watch national finals can recognize Jessica Mauboy, who represented Australia in 2018 with “We Got Love”. Other nominated acts include Electric Fields, Australian national finalists from 2019, and Mitch Tambo, who competed in the national final to represent his country in 2020.

Nominations

Jessica Mauboy posted on Instagram that she is “so honored to be nominated in two categories”. Her 2019 album “Hilda” is nominated for an Album of the Year award. She is also in the running for the award for Artist of the Year.

For this Artist of the Year award, she is up against Electric Fields. Besides this nomination, Electric Fields is hoping to win the Song of the Year award for their collaboration with none other than KEiiNO! If their song “Would I Lie” wins, it would be a double Eurovision celebration!

Lastly, Mitch Tambo, who has reached the final of Australia’s Got Talent in 2019, is nominated in the Talent of the Year category.

Bente van Leijden

I have watched Eurovision every year since 2009, and have become actively involved in the fan culture since 2016! My favorite songs are usually pop songs, but I am certainly not opposed to ballads or rock. If the song is good, I will like it! As an Amsterdam native, I am very lucky to visit Eurovision in Concert each year. In 2020, Rotterdam would have been my first time attending the contest, so now I have my fingers crossed for 2021.
