The Scoop🇪🇸 Spain

🇪🇸 Blas Cantó working on new project with Duncan Laurence

Local media suggest he could be working on his Eurovision 2021 entry

Spain’s Eurovision hopeful for 2021, Blas Cantó, has revealed on Twitter that he is working on a new project alongside Eurovision 2019 winner Duncan Laurence.

Blas was originally selected to represent Spain at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest, with the song “Universo”. Following the contest’s cancellation, RTVE announced that they had invited him back to represent the nation in 2021.

Some “very cool things” in the making!

On Twitter, Blas revealed that he had been working on new material with the reigning Eurovision winner alongside three of the “Universo” songwriters.

Yesterday, I had a session with Duncan Laurence, Dangelo, Dan Hammond & Mikolaj Trybulec and we did very cool things. I hope to tell you more things soon.

Eurovision entry in the making?

In April, Blas said that he wants to go for “something totally different from Universo” for the 2021 contest in Rotterdam. However, he did say that he wants to keep the same team as 2020.

He revealed in his latest tweet that Dangelo Ortega, Dan Hammond and Mikolaj Trybulec were all present at the session. Fans of this year’s Spanish entry will know that these three songwriters were responsible for writing “Universo”. This may suggest that Blas’ new Eurovision entry is already in the making.

Following the tweet, local media in Spain suggested that Duncan Laurence is working with Blas on his new Eurovision entry, possibly as a songwriter. However, this news has not been confirmed by Blas, Duncan or Spanish broadcaster RTVE.

Would you like to see Duncan Laurence as one of Blas’ songwriters next year? What type of entry would you like to hear from Spain in 2021?
