🇵🇱 Poland’s Alicja releases music video for new single “Gdzieś”

A few days ago, Alicja Szemplińska released her brand new single “Gdzieś” (Somewhere), her first release since her entry for the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest “Empires”.

A change in tempo

“Gdzieś” marks a change in tempo for Alicja with a more midtempo feel in comparison to the ballad style of her Eurovision entry “Empires”. The track was composed by Alicja alongside Bogdan Kondracki, with production also undertaken by Kondracki and lyrics written by Karolina Kozak.

The Voice of Poland

Szemplińska, who uses the mononym Alicja for her latest music releases, rose to fame following her victory in the 2019 edition of “The Voice of Poland”. Her subsequent popularity earned her a spot in the Polish national selection for the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest in which she would perform the song “Empires”. The James Bond-inspired ballad took victory and earned Alicja the ticket to Rotterdam and a place in the second semi-final.

Alicja for 2021?

Unfortunately, Alicja didn’t make it to Rotterdam as a result of the cancellation of the contest. Nevertheless, she has reiterated her desire to represent Poland in next year’s contest. A decision by TVP is expected following their hosting of the 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Warsaw in late November.
