🇦🇺 SBS & ABC will not broadcast Junior Eurovision 2020

Fingers crossed they return soon

Back in July, SBS informed the EBU that Australia will not compete in this year’s Junior Eurovision due to the ongoing pandemic and the uncertain surroundings. After the list of the competing countries was released, SBS informed us, that the ‘new format‘ had not been communicated prior. Now our friends from aussievision.net reached out to the Australian broadcaster and got the confirmation that SBS nor ABC will broadcast this year’s competition in November!

This is a first since the debut in 2015

Since the debut in 2015, Australia always delivered in the contest. They always reached the Top 10 and came 3rd twice. This year SBS decided not to participate because of the ongoing pandemic. After the EBU announced the list of participating countries and the news, that countries could still enter the competition, many had hope SBS would change their decision. However, it was now revealed, that SBS and ABC will not even broadcast the competition this November. This will be the first time since the country entered the contest five years ago.

How to watch the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020?

The contest will be streamed live on the official Junior Eurovision YouTube channel and international viewers will be able to follow the show online.

This years Junior Eurovision Song Contest will take place on Sunday November 29th. Poland will host the contest again after winning on homeground in 2019.

Last year Australia was represented by Jordan Anthony and his song ‘We Will Rise’. After opening the show he finished in 8th place with 121 points!
