Yesterday, Australia’s 2016 Eurovision Song Contest representative Dami Im revealed that she will be releasing a brand-new single on February 19th entitled “Lonely Cactus”. According to her announcement, fans can already pre-save the track by visiting their favourite music streaming platform.
The countdown is on!
This will be Dami’s first official single since last year’s release of “Paper Dragon” which she recently confirmed would have been her prospective entry in Eurovision: Australia Decides 2021. Of course, with the cancellation of Eurovision 2020 and Montaigne’s subsequent internal selection for 2021, Dami did not get the chance to take “Paper Dragon” to Eurovision this year.
Dami confirmed the upcoming release of her new single “Lonely Cactus” on her social media platforms yesterday. You can see her Instagram announcement below.
Dami at Eurovision 2016
Dami represented Australia in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in the Swedish capital city of Stockholm. “Sound of silence” was awarded a dominant first place with the professional juries from all over Europe and was also amongst the favourites of the general public earning fourth place in the televote. Overall, she earned her nation a second-place finish which remains the country’s best finish to date.
In 2021, Australia will be represented by Montaigne following the cancellation of last year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Last year, she was due to perform “Don’t Break Me” after its victory in Australia Decides 2020.
