The Scoop🇮🇹 Italy

🇮🇹 Måneskin show support to Italy ahead of Euro 2020 Final

With just a day to go until the long-awaited Euro 2020 Final, Måneskin have been in talks with ITV about the match ahead, as well as their achievements to date.

Taking the top prize in Eurovision and the Euros?

ITV News Arts Editor Nina Nannar was in conversation with the Eurovision 2021 winners earlier this week. Since Måneskin’s victory in Rotterdam, they have been recording in the studio “non-stop”. However, an exception will be made for Sunday’s Euro 2020 Final, where Italy take on England. Victoria De Angelis joked with Nina in saying, “we’re going to be enemies!”.

In addition, the interviewer hoped that Italy would “show England a little more mercy”. This was, of course, in reference to the United Kingdom ending up with 0 points in Eurovision this year, while the group won with 524 points.

“Realising what’s happening day by day”

Talking about their accomplishments so far, Damiano David described that it was “hard to believe, but it’s actually real”. To date, Måneskin have two top 10 singles in the Official UK Charts, becoming the first Italian act to achieve this. These singles being “I Wanna Be Your Slave” and their cover of Madcon’s “Beggin'”.

Furthermore, Nina asked them “what means more to the people of Italy – music or football?”. In the end, they agreed that both are just as important, as they “give different emotions” and “give a sense of being part of something”.

Lastly, Måneskin were asked whether they would rather win the Euro 2020 cup or be #1 in the charts around the world. Understandably, they unanimously chose the latter.

Måneskin at Eurovision 2021

Måneskin won Eurovision 2021 for Italy in Rotterdam with a grand total of 524 points. It is Italy’s first victory in 31 years, with their last victory dating back to Toto Cutugno in 1990. In a decisive victory, the band scored top three in Eurovision televoting with over 65% of the countries.
