Chelcee Grimes to represent the United Kingdom at Eurovision 2022?

Chelcee is no stranger to the world of Eurovision

After making her Eurovision commentary debut this year, singer-songwriter Chelcee Grimes is reportedly in the running to represent the United Kingdom at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest after the BBC confirmed their collaboration with TaP Music for next year. The global publishing and management company will choose the country’s song and act for Turin.

Metro reports that Chelcee Grimes is one of the acts in the running to represent the UK next year, though she could participate as either a singer or a songwriter. Chelcee has previously written songs for other TaP acts including Dua Lipa, as well as for other well-known artists including Kylie Minogue, The Saturdays and Olly Murs. She has also released songs as a singer including “Just Like That” and “Girls”.

“The dream signing”

After working as part of the BBC’s Eurovision team in 2021 and writing “Wonderland” for Roxen and Alexander Rybak last year, Chelcee is growing her Eurovision portfolio by the minute. According to the Metro, she could be adding ‘Eurovision representative’ to that list next year.

Chelcee is not just a talented artist in her own right, she’s also an extremely gifted songwriter, so it makes complete sense that bosses would want her to help with the UK’s Eurovision entry… if her schedule allowed and they can make it work, it would be a huge statement of intent for the UK’s entry to get her onboard.

The report goes on to say that Chelcee “could be the dream signing for the UK”. She is already managed by TaP Music who will take over control of the UK entry from BMG Music who worked with the BBC in 2020 and 2021. TaP’s Ben Mawson has said that he wants the UK’s entry to “reflect and celebrate the rich, diverse and world-class talent the UK is known for”.
