Turin 2022🇫🇮 Finland

UMK22 date and venue announced, artists to be revealed in January

Finland’s national broadcaster Yle has announced the date and the venue for UMK22, their national selection for Eurovision 2022. Finland’s representative for the contest in Turin will be selected on 26th of February in Logomo, Turku.

Seven finalists to be revealed on 12th of January

312 songs were sent to the UMK22 in September, which was significantly more than in the previous year. A total of more than 1,000 people participated in the making of the songs.

Yle will reveal the seven finalists of UMK22 in January. After the artists have been announced on the 12th of January, the songs will be revealed on each day from January 13th onwards. The UMK22 final will take place on 26th of February, where the Finnish public will choose the winner together with international juries.

The line-up selected for this year’s competition is the most versatile we ever had in UMK. It includes rising pop stars who have been successful in streaming services, international export hopes, an artist known to all Finns, who has also been seen in a music program known to everyone, a long-time favorite who has had a long career from the 80s to the present, and new names in the music industry. Among the applicants there were clearly more rock bands than ever before, and among the finalists we will also see explosive rock energy.
