Today EurovisionFun.com reports, that North Macedonia will use a similar format as ESCZ to find their entry for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Turin. Therefore a maximum of six songs will compete to represent the country in the contest with the winner being decided by a 50/50 jury- and televoting. Interested artists and songwriters have till January 16th to submit their proposal.
Who will represent North Macedonia?
A max of six songs will compete to represent North Macedonia at Eurovision. While the artist has to be a citizen of North Macedonia, while songwriters can be international. The winner of these up to six songs will be chosen by a 50/50 jury- & televoting split. The similarity to ESCZ will be the presentation of the acts. According to EurovisionFun, each act will record a video of their performance with the same or similar background or stage. Based on these clips the international jury and the public will have the chance to vote for their favorite.
Interested artists from North Macedonia or international songwriters can send their ideas to [email protected] until January 16th.
North Macedonia at the Eurovision Song Contest
After an unsuccessful attempt in 1996, North Macedonia officially debuted at the 1998 contest with Vlado Janevski’s “Ne zori, zoro”. Since then, they have took part in the contest 19 times.
Before 2019, their best result was 12th place in 2006 when Elena Risteska participated with “Ninanajna”. However, in 2019, Tamara Todevska broke that record, placing 7th, with her song “Proud”. Tamara also managed to win the jury vote, topping Sweden who finished as the jury’s runner-up.
In 2021 Vasil represented North Macedonia in Rotterdam with “Here I Stand”. He finished 15th in the first Semi-Final with 23 points.
