Dora 2024 dates confirmed as contest returns to Zagreb

The three-show event will conclude with a Grand Final on February 25

Last week, HRT the national broadcaster of Croatia revealed the songs and artists competing in Dora 2024. Now, with the release of music videos, HRT has confirmed the selection will return to Zagreb and take place across three nights in February – 22, 23 and 25.

Dora 2024 to explore Zagreb as selection dates confirmed

For the first time since 2011, Croatia’s national selection will return to the capital, Zagreb. Along with that news, broadcaster HRT confirmed Dora 2024 will be expanded to three shows taking place at the HRT Studios. So far, no further details of the format have been announced. However, the two Semi-Finals will take place on February 22 and 23, with the Grand Final to be held on February 25. Overall 24 songs will compete for the ticket to Malmö. This suggest twelve acts will take part in each Semi-Final.

To coincide with the news, full music videos for all the participants have been released in one playlist on the official HRT Dora YouTube channel.

Croatia in the Eurovision Song Contest

Croatia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest as an independent country since 1993, and was only absent in 2014 and 2015. They received their best result in 1996 and 1999 where they placed 4th overall in both years.Croatia has not qualified for the Grand Final since 2017, where Jacques Houdek participated with song ‘My Friend’, which was in both English and Italian. It received 128 points in total and placed 13th overall. In 2022, Mia Dimšić won Dora and represented Croatia with the song ‘Guilty Pleasure’. She participated in the first semi-final and placed 11th with 75 points, narrowly missing out on a place in the Grand Final.

Last year, Croatia sent the charismatic band Let 3 to the Liverpool contest with, ‘Mama ŠČ!’ During Eurovision week, Croatia secured its place in the Grand Final for the first time since 2017. In the Final, Let 3 placed 13th with 123 points.
