The fourth entry of Finland’s national selection for Eurovision Song Contest 2022 has just been released. Younghearted is taking part in UMK22 with the song “Sun numero” (Your number).

The song is written by the singer Reeta Huotarinen together with Vilma Alina and Joonas Keronen. Vilma Alina has a successful career herself with over 40 million streams on Spotify with hits such as “Palasina“, “Syliin” and “Juha88” that features UMK21 artist Teflon Brothers. She was one of the members of Finnish jury at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. Her favourite in the final was France’s “Mercy”.
Who are Younghearted?
Younghearted was formed in 2015 by the singer Reeta Huotarinen and the guitarists Atte Ranta and Emil Korkiakoski. The band released three singles in the same year, including “Hetkeksi” that has been streamed over 12 million times on Spotify so far. Their debut album NUORISYDÄN was released the next year and it has been certified platinum in Finland.
The group’s second album Vapaa included singles “Vaikeeta”, “Hullaannun” and “Sun syliin”, that all have been streamed over two million times on Spotify. The group also got nominated as the Best Group at the 2020 Emma Gaala, Finland’s equivalent for the Grammys. In 2021, Finland’s prime minister Sanna Marin named the group as one of her favourite bands.
Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2022
The eleventh edition of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu is taking place on February 26th at 20:00 CET. Seven acts will compete and the Finnish public together with international juries will choose Finland’s representative for Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin.
