Turin 2022🇮🇸 Iceland

Sigga, Beta and Elín rebranded as Systur for the Eurovision 2022

Unlike S!sters, they are real sisters

Sigga, Beta and Elín were chosen to represent Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 through the national selection Söngvakeppnin. Now the group has rebranded themselves as Systur for the contest in Turin.

The new name of the group, Systur, translates as sisters. Before Söngvakeppnin 2022, the group has also performed as Sísý Ey, with the line-up also including producer DJ Oculus. However, as the sisters are competing at the Eurovision Song Contest as a trio, a new name was needed.

Systur will be representing Iceland at the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest on May 10th. The trio won the national selection with their song “Með hækkandi sól” (With the rising sun). The recently revealed detailed voting results show that the group finished second in the first round of voting, but was able to gain enough votes on the second round to secure the victory ahead of the runner-up Reykjavíkurdætur.

Systur will perform their song on the second half of the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. The group hopes to bring Iceland to the final for the third year in a row. Last year Daði og Gagnamagnið finished fourth in the final with the song “10 Years”.
