Rehearsal review

Stage presentation

The colours remind me of then end of “Shum”, with the colours of the sunrise. Similarly, the song opens with a view of the sunrise. The sun actually works in their favour, and after the first chorus, the lighting turns more white to show the contrast. Then, a beautiful shot showing the silhouettes of the artists, as they make their signature moves leaning left and right. The backdrop shows hands and eyes, while bathed in blue light during the second chorus. We are going to get a lot of shots in the crowd with them clapping along during the bridge.

Costumes and styling

Most of the costumes are what we already remember from the national final, particularly the signature pink hat. Besides that, they are dressed in outfits that are colourful from the bottom but darker on top.

Vocal quality

Nothing to comment on here, asides from the already impressive vocals that we were expecting. It sounds better than the national final, in my opinion, and it definitely feels like you can understand the lyrics even if you don’t speak Ukrainian.

Overall impression

I am incredibly impressed. This is a beautiful staging, which Ukraine is known for, and the power of the song is just elevated by the staging. It is really one of the best rehearsals we’ve seen so far today, the bookmakers definitely know what they’re talking about.

Bente van Leijden

I have watched Eurovision every year since 2009, and have become actively involved in the fan culture since 2016! My favourite genre in Eurovision tends to be rock, but I am not opposed to pop songs or ballads at all. If the song is good, I will like it :) As an Amsterdam native, I am very lucky to visit Eurovision in Concert each year. In 2021, I was even lucky enough to attend 5 Eurovision shows in Rotterdam!
