American Song Contest cancelled indefinitely

The 1 season run of the American Song Contest on NBC has officially been canceled according to Christopher Björkman, one of the contests organizers.

One season of American Song Contest only…

In its premier season in 2022, AleXa from Oklahoma won the American Song Contest with her song “Wonderland”, gaining 710 points from the 10 jury regions and televote.

Björkman announced that the United States version of Eurovision was not renewed for a second season, not of surprise due to the consistently declining viewing ratings last year. Though he expressed hope for a run in 2024. The format of ASC was not only different from ESC, but restructured constantly through the months long weekly shows, even after delaying the show four weeks from its scheduled premier.

While the contest was hosted by Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg, the viewership just didn’t watch the show as expected. The future of the spin-off is on hold for the foreseeable future as editions in Latin America, Canada, and (hopefully) Asia work on getting started. For now, however, we must say goodbye to the American Song Contest.
