The Netherlands are already gearing up for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. Liverpool might still be cleaning up after the Eurovision madness, but acts in the 2021 host country are already expressing their interest to fly the Dutch flag next year. The latest – and potentially biggest – act to join the list is DJ collective Kris Kross Amsterdam.

Brother Jordy and Sander Huisman, joined by their friend Yuki Kempees, form Kris Kross Amsterdam. In an interview with press agency ANP, they confirmed their interest to represent their country next year. As long as AVROTROS, the broadcaster, ask them, the brothers confirm they’d definitely say ‘yes’ to Eurovision. This would go for both an internal selection as well as the rumoured return of the Nationaal Songfestival. Jordy, the younger brother, said:
I think [Eurovision] could be something for us, for sure. When we released “Hij Is Van Mij”, which we did with Maan, Tabitha and Bizzey, we got quite a few reactions suggesting: this would be perfect for Eurovision. Trying to recreate that would be a great challenge for us.

The DJs are normally known for their modern day spins on older classics, with their biggest hits including Whenever (a Shakira cover) and Adrenaline (a Cascada cover). However, they’ve also done plenty of original songs. For 2024, they’d like to get a free pass to choose the singer they’d collaborate with. Kris Kross Amsterdam don’t provide vocals themselves. In the past, they’ve worked with Maan, Conor Maynard, Zoë Tauran, Tinie Tempah and others. Jordy Huisman has an idea who they’d like to choose for a potential entry: Davina Michelle, who did the interval in one of the 2021 semifinals.
Goldband, Joost, Vinchenzo or Douwe Bob…
Kris Kross Amsterdam are one of the bigger names to announce their desire to do Eurovision, but by no means the only on in the Netherlands. Following the first non-qualification since Trijntje Oosterhuis in 2015, the debate has kicked off in one of Eurovision’s longest standing participants. Some, including sources within AVROTROS, have hinted on the return of a national final. The last completely open national final the country did was back in 2005.
Already in January, Goldband announced their intention to make it to the Eurovision stage. The band, hailing from The Hague, have now scored the biggest scoring Dutch language hit ever with their song Noodgeval. Goldband would be a controversial choice, after the lead singer snorted cocaine live on stage during a performance last year. The band have since apologised and have continued to score sold out concerts and streams ever since.
Other options include influencer Joost Klein, talent show winner Vinchenzo Tahapary and former Eurovision entrant Douwe Bob. AVROTROS are expected to start the search for their next Eurovision act in the summer. They’ll however have to do so without the help of 2021 host Jan Smit. The singer, TV host and Eurovision commentator quit the selection committee earlier this year. Rumours suggest he was not on board with the selection of Mia Nicolai and Dion Cooper for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. The duo finished thirteenth in the Liverpool semi, gathering a mere seven points and thus failing to qualify.
