On their social media accounts, The Roop have announced that they’ve submitted a song for Eurovizija.LT, Lithuania’s new national selection process. They will release the song in January.
The Roop attempted to participate in Eurovision for the first time in 2018 with their song “Yes, I Do”. They came third in the national final. In 2020, they participated in the national selection Pabandom iš naujo! again and were chosen to represent Lithuania. Their song “On Fire” was selected by many fans and media outlets as a favourite to win, but missed out on Eurovision as the contest was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The following year, The Roop were not automatically chosen to represent Lithuania again, but they did gain a guaranteed place in the final of the national selection. They won the national final with “Discoteque”, eventually finishing 8th in the Eurovision Grand Final – Lithuania’s second best result so far.
This year, Lithuania will see a new national selection format with Eurovizija.LT. Songs can be submitted until 11 December. The selection will be made up of several semi-final shows and one final, in which the Lithuanian Eurovision entry will be chosen. The Roop will first have to be selected as one of the participating artists/groups for the live shows.
