After much speculation and cryptic teasers, Olly Alexander the United Kingdom representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, has confirmed this morning that his entry, ‘Dizzy’ will be released on March 1.
Olly Alexander getting ‘Dizzy’ in Malmö!
Last December, Olly Alexander shocked everyone during Strictly Come Dancing, when he confirmed that he would be flying the flag for the United Kingdom in Malmö. Following this, speculation turned towards the song. The former frontman of Years and Years started the rumour mill with a TikTok video that fans quickly pulled apart to suggest the title of the entry might be, ‘Dizzy’.
Last night, Olly presented a mock up of a weather report with the BBC Weather legend that is Carol Kirkwood. During the clip, which was posted across Olly’s socials and that of BBC Eurovision, Olly alluded to ‘Dizzy’ spells coming from Sweden.
It appears there is a rare phenomena of dizzy spells, running towards our dear island and it appears they come all the way from Sweden. From what we can see, there won’t be an end to these dizzy spells for the foreseeable just yet, and no telling if they’ll continue to go round and round or just eventually go back to the beginning.

Today, Olly has finally ended all the speculation and confirmed his Eurovision entry and first solo single, ‘Dizzy’ will be released on March 1. The song has been produced in collaboration with Danny L Harle, (Dua Lipa, Charli XCX). Now we know from the temperature readings, that the 7 refers to the February 7 announcement of the song title, 1 corresponds to the release date of March 1, whilst 11 refers to the performance in the Grand Final on May 11.
