As the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 season begins to take shape in the wake of Nemo’s victory in May, Lithuania’s national broadcaster LRT have announced the return of EUROVIZIJA.LT. The national final will select the representative for Lithuania in Switzerland next May.
EUROVIZIJA.LT returns for Eurovision 2025 selection
The national broadcaster for Lithuania, (LRT) have commenced its search for the act that represent the Baltic country in Switzerland next May. Once again, EUROVIZIJA.LT will be used to select the next representative for Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. Song submissions are now open and will remain so until November 11.
Early in 2025, the chosen artists and their songs will compete in the live shows of EUROVIZIJA.LT. The number of participants in each live show will depend on the number of submissions received. However, it is expected there will be no more than 5 Semi-Finals and a Grand Final. The format will retain its structure of the 2024 edition. During the Grand Final, a combination of 50% jury and 50% televoting will decide the three acts advancing to the Superfinal. At this stage, the performances will be shown again and televoting only will select the winner of EUROVIZIJA.LT 2025. Following the conclusion of the show, a partial fund from the phone votes will be allocated to the winning act for their Eurovision 2025 participation.
Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest
Lithuania debuted at the contest in 1994. Their first entrant, Ovidijus Vyšniauskas with the song ‘Lopšinė mylimai‘, finished last with nil points. However, this didn’t deter them from continuing; they have participated every year since 2004. Overall, Lithuania have participated in 17 Grand Finals from 24 appearances. Their best finish came in 2006 with LT United’s ‘We Are The Winners‘. Despite the title, LT United could only manage 6th. Since undertaking a complete overhaul of the national selection, Lithuania have advanced to the Grand Final four times in a row.
Last year, the Lithuanian jury and public chose Silvester Belt with ‘Luktelk’ during EUROVIZIJA.LT 2024. During the 2024 contest, Silvester Belt placed 14th with 90 points in the Grand Final.
