Swiss national broadcaster SRF has revealed that the host nation of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 has received over 400 submissions in its internal selection for the representative that will take to the stage next May in Basel.
Switzerland close song applications for Eurovision 2025
National broadcaster SRF had opened song submissions for its internal selection process from August 8 to August 22. After the close of submissions, SRF have confirmed that 431 songs are in contention to represent the host nation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 taking place in Basel next May. The selected song and artist will have big shoes to fill following Nemo’s victory with ‘The Code’ earlier this year. Due to data protection and privacy laws, it is unclear at this time if any notable artists have applied.
Over the coming months, a Swiss jury, international jury and a 25 member panel of experts with Eurovision jury experience, will assess the entries across multiple phases. The song and artist is expected to be revealed in early 2025.
Since introducing this format of internal selection, Switzerland has achieved five consecutive qualifications, including three top 5 results. Of course, this culminated with victory in Malmö for the captivating performance by Nemo and their winning entry, ‘The Code’. Earning Switzerland their third victory in total and first win since 1988.
