The 2024 edition of Sanremo Giovani has kicked off for Italy’s emerging musical talent, offering young artists aged 16 to 26 the chance to compete Nuove Proposte (Newcomers) section of the Sanremo 2025. The competition this year features a refreshed format that blends the standard Sanremo Giovani selection with the Area Sanremo competition.
The Competition Format
This year’s Sanremo Giovani is divided into three stages, spanning from November 12 to December 18:
- Weekly Challenges:
- Four challenge nights on November 12, 19, 26, and December 3.
- Each night features six artists, with three advancing to the semi-finals based on evaluations by the musical committee.
- Hosted by Alessandro Cattelan and broadcast on Rai 2.
- Semi-Final:
- Scheduled for December 10, reducing the 12 remaining contestants to six finalists.
- Hosted by Cattelan and broadcast on Rai 2.
- Grand Final:
- Taking place on December 18 at the Sanremo Casino Theatre, the finale will be hosted by Carlo Conti and aired on Rai 1.
- Six finalists from Sanremo Giovani and two from Area Sanremo will compete for four slots in the Nuove Proposte lineup.
- The results will be decided by a combination of televoting and the musical committee’s assessments.

Area Sanremo
Area Sanremo runs alongside the standard selection and provides another pathway to the Sanremo Giovani final. Organized by the Municipality of Sanremo and the Sanremo Symphonic Orchestra Foundation, this selection process involves auditions and a final evaluation. Two finalists from this route will join the Sanremo Giovani finale.
Progress So Far
The first challenge night, held on November 12, saw the following three artists advance to the semi-finals:
- Tancredi with “Standing Ovation”
- Mew with “Oh My God”
- Mazzariello with “Amarsi per lavoro”
The competition will continue into December with more challenge nights, the semi-finals, and the grand finale. The second challenge night is scheduled for November 19, followed by additional challenges on November 26 and December 3. The semi-finals will take place on December 10, culminating in the grand finale on December 18.
