Luxembourg Song Contest 2025 participants revealed

Today, the seven participants of 2025’s Luxembourg Song Contest were revealed by broadcaster RTL. Out of 77 songs, submitted by roughly 60 artists, an international jury comprised of Diogo Fernandes, Poli Genova, Niamh Kavanagh, Marie Myriam, and Eldar Gasimov, has picked the following finalists.

Laura Thorn

Laura Thorn is a teacher at the Esch/Alzette Conservatory of Music. From an early age, she has been taught music theory, piano, cello, keyboard, chamber music, and dance. Laura holds a master’s degree in music theory, music pedagogy, and pop singing from the Institut supérieur de musique et de pédagogie in Namur, Belgium. She has not released any music yet but has been living for music all her life.

One Last Time

One Last Time is a name familiar to those who followed the Luxembourg Song Contest’s previous edition. The alternative rock-pop band consists of Andrea Galleti (lead vocals), Jonathan Fersino (bass), Barbara Salvi (keyboard), Tom Sagramola (guitar), and Alessandro Sorbelli (drums). Their song “Devil in the Detail” failed to reach Luxembourg Song Contest’s final in 2024, but it did give them public recognition. They are set to release their debut album in 2025.

Luzac

Luzac is a songwriter and composer, originally trained as an educator. In 2021, he released his first single, “J’y arriverai“, and shifted to writing and composing for himself rather than for other artists. His debut album is still upcoming. In the past year, Luzac has been the number one streamed Luxembourgish hip hop artist on YouTube.

Rhythmic Soulwave

Rhythmic Soulwave is a group of six musicians who met at the Conservatoire de la ville de Luxembourg (Luxembourg City Conservatory). They have diverse cultural and musical backgrounds. Three of them are from the country of Luxembourg: Mael Fontana, Leopold Strauβ, and Angela Aguilera Caballero. They are joined by Spanish bassist Diego Lucero, Hungarian guitarist Zakar Lörinc; and Cuban-Hungarian vocalist Carmen Carbonnell Suarez. Their music is influenced by jazz, Latin American music, classical traditions, and pop rock, forming a unique blend.

MÄNA

MÄNA studies at the Ecole régionale de musique de la Ville de Dudelange (Dudelange Regional School of Music) to become a music teacher, practising the violin and flute. She plays the flute in an orchestra, but also sings solo and with orchestras. In 2023, she released her debut single “Stay“.

Rafa Ela

Rafa Ela is known from participating in the Luxembourg Song Contest alongside Angy, with their song “Drop“. Before this, she already competed in Luxembourg’s Next Popstar in 2016 and Top Voice Luxembourg in 2018. She regularly performs in restaurants in clubs. She will now participate solo in the Luxembourg Song Contest!

ZERO POINT FIVE

The final candidate is ZERO POINT FIVE, one of Luxembourg’s most well-known musical acts. The band frequently plays at festivals and concerts. ZERO POINT FIVE was formed in 2009 and blends pop, folk, and country. They are currently with three members: Federico (Kiko) Menichetti, Gilles Saracini, and Christophe Reitz.

What’s next for Luxembourg?

In mid-December, the songs for these seven artists will be revealed. The Luxembourg Song Contest will take place on 25 January, once again in the music venue Rockhal in Esch-sur-Alzette. The winner of this show will follow up Tali for Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2024, Tali finished in thirteenth place, granting Luxembourg their best result in 36 years, and a highly successful comeback after a 31-year absence.
