Louane to represent France at Eurovision 2025

The 28-year-old artist confirmed her participation after French newspaper Le Parisien leaked that she would represent France at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel.

France Télévisions first refused to comment on Le Parisien‘s article. According to the newspaper, the French broadcaster planned to wait until after the final of Melodifestivalen (the Swedish national selection, on March 8), to make an official announcement.

Their communications plan was probably disrupted by the leak, and Louane herself ended up confirming the information on Instagram. She did so with a video addressed to her late mother, with whom she watched Eurovision when she was a child.

Louane is a 28-year old French singer, whose career took off after taking part in The Voice: La plus belle voix in 2013, where she was eliminated just before the final. This experience also launched her into the movie industry, when she played the main character in La Famille Bélier in 2014, and for which she was awarded the 2014 César for most promising female actor.

Since then, she has published five albums, the latest in October 2024 (“Solo”), which is after the September 1st Eurovision deadline — a rule which forbids any song published before September 1st of a given year to take part in the following year’s Eurovision —, although the only single out of the album, “La pluie”, was released in July.

Last year, she also performed her own international solo tour, Le Club des sentiments, where she performed as a singer, DJ and instrumentalist. A new tour is planned in 2025-2026, accros large arenas in France and neighbouring countries. Quite a few dates from this tour have been moved from April and May to later dates, which would be a logical move to prepare for Eurovision.
