In an interview with France Inter radio, Louane and French head of delegation Alexandra Redde-Amiel revealed a few elements on the French participation at Eurovision 2025. Her song will be revealed and performed at the Stade de France, on March 15, during the half-time show of the Six Nations Rugby match between France and Scotland.
Doing it “the American way”
Details about Louane’s entry are still scarce, at the moment, and the morning interview from yesterday by French journalist Léa Salamé mainly focused on Louane’s career, life, and on the decision to go to Eurovision. It was still the occasion for the French delegation to make one important announcement: the date and conditions of the song reveal.
Louane will reveal the song in a live performance, on March 15, during the half-time of the last Rugby match of this year’s Six Nations Tournament, between France and Scotland. The idea came from Alexandra Redde-Amiel, and was validated by Louane. This is quite an unusual occurrence in France: even though concerts and showcases take place before, after and sometimes during major football or rugby matches (for example, with Mika’s show after the national TOP 14 league final in 2018, in the same stadium), it is not at a level similar to what can be found in the United States, with Super Bowl shows and the likes. As described by Léa Salamé, this is going “the American way”.
After the 2020 reveal from the Eiffel Tower, France will get another spectacular venue for a reveal: the stadium can host 80.000 people in its Rugby/Football confirguration, and has recently hosted important events during the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, like Rugby Sevens, Athletics, para-Athletics, and both closing ceremonies.
In terms of the Eurovision calendar, March 15 is the Saturday after the last “Super Saturday” of the season, meaning it will be after the finals of Melodifestivalen, Festival da Canção and the San Marino Song Contest. In the current calendar, it is the latest reveal of any country this year, and could very well be the last one.
A true challenge for Louane
Apart from this, very little information has been revealed. Louane has not hidden the fact that representing France at Eurovision was a dream her late mother had for her. After years of being very private about the subject of her parent’s death when she was still a teenager, she is now more open on the topic but refused to say whether her song would cover this topic.
She said, however, that the song would be very authentic, and yet something very new for her.
The only thing I can say about the song for now, is that it is, at the same time, a hundred percent “me”, and the first time I try something like this. […] A true challenge.
