Results of the First Semi-Final of Söngvakeppnin 2025

The first semi-final of Söngvakeppnin 2025 took place on 8 Feb. 2025, starting Iceland’s selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. Five artists competed for three spots in the grand final, with the results determined solely by public televoting.

The three qualifiers advancing to the final on 22 February 2025 were:

  1. Stebbi Jak“Frelsið mitt”
  2. Væb“Róa”
  3. Ágúst“Eins og þú”

The eliminated acts were Birgo and Bia, whose performances, though well-received, did not secure enough votes to advance.

The semi-final, held at RVK Studios in Reykjavík, was hosted by Benedikt Valsson, Fannar Sveinsson, and Guðrún Dís Emilsdóttir. It was opened by Icelandic hip hop artist Aron Can.

Each of the five competing entries was performed in Icelandic, as per Söngvakeppnin tradition, with the finalists given the option to switch to their preferred Eurovision language in the final.

For the semi-finals, only the public vote determined the qualifiers. In the grand final, a 50/50 combination of international juries and public voting will decide the ultimate winner.

With the first semi-final complete, the second semi-final will be held on 15 Feb. 2025, where five more artists will compete for the remaining three final spots. The final on 22 Feb. 2025 will determine Iceland’s representative for Eurovision 2025, who will perform in the First Semi-Final on 13 May 2025.
