Go-Jo to represent Australia at Eurovision 2025 with ‘Milkshake Man’

The moment Australian Eurovision fans have been waiting for has arrived! Today, SBS the Australian national broadcaster has revealed that Go-Jo will represent Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with, ‘Milkshake Man’.

Earlier this year, SBS confirmed that once again they would be using an internal selection process. Today it has been announced that Go-Jo will be putting Australia’s name on the Eurovision map in Basel, Switzerland this May.

35-year-old Go-Jo (real name Marty Zambotto), grew up embracing an off-grid sustainable lifestyle in Manjimup, Western Australia. At the age of the 13, he started learning guitar and his passion for music and songwriting flourished as a result, launching his career in 2016. Not one to be tied to genres, Go-Jo is influenced by many forms of guitar infused, Pop, R&B, and Hip Hop. His quirky style, including his guitar street challenges have captured audiences on TikTok. So far, Go-Jo has amassed over 600k followers on TIkTok and nearly 500k monthly listeners on Spotify.

Hoping to bring everyone to the yard, is Go-Jo’s entry, ‘Milkshake Man’. The catchy track with the musical flair and playfulness of contemporaries such as Mika, is written and produced by Go-Jo, Amy Sheppard, George Sheppard, Jason Bovino.

“The Milkshake Man’s purpose is to inspire people to embrace the loudest and proudest version of themselves, and I can’t think of a better place to share that message than the Eurovision stage! It’s an absolute dream come true to represent such a beautiful and diverse nation, and I’ve never been more excited to share my art and vision with the incredible Eurovision fans around the world!”

“From the first moment we saw Go-Jo on stage, we realised he had a unique connection with audiences, and we know he’ll get a lot of love from the Eurovision community. This year, we are celebrating Australia’s 10th Eurovision entrant, and this one will go off with a bang (or should we say slurp!) Milkshake Man is a fresh sound and style for us in Eurovision, and we’re thrilled with this track from Go-Jo and the legendary Sheppard songwriting team.”

A 10-year-anniversary for Australia at Eurovision

Australia first took part in the contest almost ten years ago, in 2015, in Vienna. For their eleventh participation (including the 2020 cancellation), the country Down Under will be back in German-speaking lands.

First invited as a special “Down under” interval act in 2014, with Jessica Mauboy singing “Sea of Flags” during the second semi-final, the country was then invited to take part in the 2015 contest, qualifying directly to the final, making it the only Grand Final with 27 acts taking part.

Starting in 2016, Australia became a regular participant, going through the semi-finals. The country qualified six times out of their eight participations, only missing out on the final in 2021 and last year, in 2024, when Electric Fields came 11th in the first semi-final.
