Today, the organisation of the Barcelona Eurovision Party announced on Instagram that there will be no 2025 edition, due to the inability to find a suitable venue. The Barcelona event has been part of the Eurovision pre-party calendar since 2022.
On their Instagram, the cancellation was announced in a statement in Catalan, Spanish and English:
It is with a heavy heart that we announce that the Barcelona Eurovision Party will not take place this year.
Our goal has always been to deliver an unforgettable show and to elevate the event to new heights, including a move to a more central venue. However, despite our best efforts and due to circumstances beyond our control, we were unable to secure a suitable date at any venue in Barcelona – be it theatres, clubs, or concert halls.
We understand how disappointing this news is, and we sincerely apologise to the Eurovision community for not being able to bring the magic of our event to you this year.
We truly appreciate your support and understanding, and we are already working hard to come back in 2026 with the biggest and most affordable Barcelona Eurovision Party yet.
In case you are looking for an alternative option this year our friends at: Oslo, Amsterdam, London and Madrid have beautiful pre-events prepared for the Eurovision family.
Thank you for everything, and this is not a goodbye – but a see you later!
The first edition of the Barcelona Eurovision Party took place in 2022, in Sala Apolo, at the foot of the Montjuïc hill in southern Barcelona. The following year, the Barcelona Eurovision Party became a multi-day event of which the main show took place in the Sant Jordi Club, which is part of the Barcelona Olympic Park, on the top of Montjuïc. The evening before, there was a pre-party at Sala Apolo. In 2024, the Barcelona Eurovision Party again took place on and around Montjuïc: on Friday, there were several events at La Terrrazza, a club inside the Poble Espanyol open-air museum. On Saturday evening, the main show again took place at Sant Jordi Club.
The statement released on Instagram shows that the organisation had wished to move away from Montjuïc and towards a more central location – with Sant Jordi Club being an especially inconveniently located venue for non-local crowds to visit. Although they were unfortunately unsuccessful in securing a venue (whether central or not) for 2025, we are hopeful that the Barcelona Eurovision Party will make its return in 2026.
