JJ’s song for Austria 2025 released – “Wasted Love”

Earlier this morning, Austrian broadcaster ORF released their Eurovision 2025 entry, “Wasted Love”, after revealing it in a radio show a few minutes before 08:00 CET.

Earlier in the season, it was announced that JJ (Johannes Pietsch) would represent Austria in Eurovision 2025, in Basel.

The song was written by JJ, along with Thomas Turner and Teya, the Austrian 2023 co-representative. Teya has also written in the Maltese selection this year (“Heaven Sent”, that came second in MESC) and had submitted an entry for Switzerland last year.

The song “Wasted Love” talks about “a special kind of heartbreak” said JJ, that of having too much love to give but no one to give it to.

There is a special kind of heartbreak when you have so much love to give, but no place where it can arrive. It feels like floating on the sea on a fragile paper boat. Clinging to every glimmer of hope, just to watch it dissolve under you. And yet there is something undeniably beautiful in this naive devotion. Because in the end it’s nice to just be able to love – no matter how wasted
