XTRA REHEARSALS โ€” ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Bright relooking for Ziferblat

Eurovision is here! Delegations have been arriving in Basel in the last few days and rehearsals started on May 3. After closing the first rehearsals to the press in 2022, the EBU has now done away with TikTok videoclips. They will instead release sets of three photographs a day after each rehearsal, as well as description of the proceedings on their official channels. As such, today, we cover yesterday’s rehearsals, and continue with Ukraine, fifth rehearsal of the day, with “Bird of Pray”.

The following pictures have been published by the official Eurovision accounts. (Source: Alma Bengtsson, Corinne Cumming / EBU)

What happened on stage?

This description is sourced from indications given by the official Eurovision Reddit account. The stage director for Ukraine is allegedly Maria Korostelova.

  • Ziferblat have changed their outfits: they will keep the wide-legged, 1970’s style costumes, but in bright colours. A Youtube short published by the official Eurovision channel has also given more details about these new outfits:
    • Daniel (the singer) is wearing a bright pink costume, with a sort of scarf tied on his back and covering part of his arms, and a deep neckline
    • Valentyn is wearing a blue outfit, a button-up shirt with white buttons, and a small inverted heart under his neck
    • Fedir is wearing a bright cyan outfit, with a button-up shirt
  • They will be accompanied by three backing singers, wearing “glittery gold pantsuits.
  • The back-wall LED screens will show pulsing pink and green neon graphics
  • The garden props from Vidbir will not be present, although there will still be some movement on stage, especially from Daniel.
  • The stage will be covered with a layer of smoke, and some fireworks will accompany the middle-eight.

Much of the performance apparently lies in the close camerawork and the lightning, which has been described as “very stylish and polished”.

Stay tuned for further coverage of today’s photos as they are released, and for our live coverage on the ground starting on May 10, which will include (among other things) the full dress rehearsals and the live shows, live from Basel!
