XTRA REHEARSALS — 🇲🇪 A callback to Vladana with Nina Žižić

Eurovision is here! Delegations have been arriving in Basel in the last few days and rehearsals started on May 3. After closing the first rehearsals to the press in 2022, the EBU has now done away with TikTok videoclips. They will instead release sets of three photographs a day after each rehearsal, as well as description of the proceedings on their official channels. As such, today, we cover yesterday’s rehearsals, and continue with Montenegro, the second rehearsal of the day, with “Dobrodošli”.

The following pictures have been published by the official Eurovision accounts. (Source: Alma Bengtsson, Corinne Cumming / EBU)

What happened on stage?

This description is sourced from indications given by the official Eurovision Reddit account.

  • Nina is wearing a white, strapless dress, not covering her shoulders ; the dress has a large train, and is completed with a circular/oval structure of frabric, attached to the dress, described as a larger version of Vladana’s circle in Turin. This time the circle goes from above Nina’s heads to below her knees, and is white.
    • She starts the performance with a blindfold, until the first bridge into the chorus
  • With some camera shots taken from the side, Nina looks like a sort of swan with her dress
  • Despite a massive outfit and in a departure from the Montesong performance, Nina moves during the song and walks to the frame stage for the final section
  • We can expect white and blue lights building up during the performance, as well as a low fog of smoke over the floor for the beginning of the performance
  • The LED screens will show “white light particles that come together to form swirling shapes”

The stage directors for this performance are Aleksandar Maričić, Boris Subotić and Dalibor Ivanković.

Stay tuned for further coverage today, with the rehearsals of yesterday, and for our live coverage on the ground starting on May 10, which will include (among other things) the full dress rehearsals and the live shows, live from Basel!
