Eurovision is here! Delegations have been arriving in Basel in the last few days and rehearsals started on May 3. After closing the first rehearsals to the press in 2022, the EBU has now done away with TikTok videoclips. They will instead release sets of three photographs a day after each rehearsal, as well as description of the proceedings on their official channels. As such, today, we cover yesterday’s rehearsals, and continue with Latvia, the fourth rehearsal of the day, with “Bur Man Laimi”.

What happened on stage?

- The girls are all wearing slick, golden catsuits, with patterns that make it look like their hair turns into roots over their bodies. They also wear headdresses that light up and change colour during the course of the performance
- The staging is very similar to the Supernova version, with the curtain used in Latvia back on the St. Jakobshalle stage, with lightning used to create shades and effects on it with more power and scale than in the LTV studios. The stage is also bathed in low fog.
- The LED wall is, at one point, used to give a tail to each member of the band, “making them look like animals” and requiring a very precise choreography to render correctly on camera.
