Eurovision is here! All the delegations are in Basel and most of the semi-finalists have completed their two rehearsals. The automatic qualifiers, however, have not. Their first rehearsals came yesterday, and we will cover them today, now that we have the pictures from these rehearsals. We continue with Switzerland, the fourth rehearsal of the day and our host nation, with “Voyage”.

What happened on stage?
This description is sourced from indications given by the official Eurovision Reddit account and the production notes of Creative Director Theo Adams, who has also worked on the British performance last year in Malmö with Olly Alexander.
- Zoé wears an off-the-shoulder black silk dress, designed by Rowanne Studio, with abstract floral patterns coloured in dark shades of red, blue and purple printed on it.
- The delegation promises a real single-take performance, with a camera operator holds a single camera, said to use “Zeiss Super Speed lenses” used to shoot movies like “Taxi Driver” and “Raging Bull”, which create a blooming effect (maybe similar to Ukraine’s blooming effect).
- Zoé begins the performance sitting, surrounded by “black and sculptural lightning”
- The camera moves around her, close to her, and follows here throughout the performance
- There are no LED screen graphics, and no pyrotechnics. This is meant to be a very restrained performance visually, “using the scale of the Eurovision stage in a different way”
Stay tuned for further coverage today, with the rehearsals of yesterday from the automatic qualifiers, and the second rehearsals of the last semi-finalists. And stay tuned for our live coverage on the ground starting on May 10, which will include (among other things) the full dress rehearsals and the live shows, live from Basel!
